Survivors Empowered Inc., operating as Survivors' Power, originated as an idea within Gabrielle’s church trauma group. As the group explored ways to give back to the community, Gabrielle proposed organizing a grand festival. The goal of the festival was to raise funds to sponsor survivors of sexual violence, enabling them to participate in programs like those that had helped Gabrielle recover at The Meadows Behavioral Health after her assault. This idea quickly grew into something more significant than initially anticipated.
Gabrielle shared her vision with her closest friends, who had been steadfast pillars of support, strength, and guidance throughout her survivor journey. Chelsea, Gabrielle’s friend of over 30 years; Kelsey, her cherished sister-in-law of more than a decade; and Jen, her friend for over 15 years and maid of honor, all became integral parts of this initiative.
Wendy, a vital figure in Gabrielle’s healing journey for over two years, was the leader of the first support group Gabrielle attended after The Meadows. Wendy’s group has had a lasting, positive impact on Gabrielle's continued healing.
After the first festival was completed, Jennifer took on the role of Vice President. Chelsea and Kelsey went on to pursue their business passions, carrying forward the spirit of Survivors' Power.
